How to Find Abbey Road
A simple, practical guide to finding Abbey Road in London. This is the exact crossing from the Beatles album cover, with clear directions, tips for visiting, and what to expect when you get there.
Finding the Abbey Road Crossing
Abbey Road is in St John’s Wood in North West London. The famous zebra crossing sits directly outside Abbey Road Studios, a short walk from St John’s Wood Underground Station on the Jubilee line.

Nearest Tube Station
St John’s Wood (Jubilee line) is the closest station.
Come out of the station and walk straight ahead across the main road. Keep going along Grove End Road for around six minutes until you reach the zebra crossing. You will then see the Studios ahead on the left.
What to See When You Arrive
The crossing looks exactly as it does on the album cover. The traffic is constant and the road is narrow, so take care. Most visitors attempt the classic four-man walk, but be quick and considerate to drivers.

Abbey Road Studios
After the album was released, EMI renamed its building Abbey Road Studios. It remains an active and world-famous recording studio. You cannot tour the studios unless you are attending a private event, but you can stand outside, take photographs and explore the shop next door.

Abbey Road Shop
Next to the studio entrance is the Abbey Road shop. Inside you will find books, vinyl, clothing, prints and a rotating selection of memorabilia from artists who recorded at the studios. There are also archive photographs of the Beatles in session. https://shop.abbeyroad.com/
Abbey Road Webcam
A webcam points directly at the zebra crossing. It runs all day and is a fun way to capture your visit. You can share the link with friends so they can watch you walk across in real time.
Tips for Visiting
• Arrive early morning if you want a quieter crossing.
• Avoid weekday rush hours as local commuters need the road clear.
• Bring someone to take your photos. Tripods are awkward on the pavement.
• Watch the traffic. Cars do not stop unless you have stepped onto the crossing.
• If you are adding your name to the wall, use a marker that washes off. The wall is repainted frequently.
